Yatrai Nouzen (ヤトライ・ノウゼン, Yatorai Nouzen?) is a secondary character in the 86 -Eighty Six- series introduced in Holy Blue Bullet.

Appearance[]

Yatrai is a young, pureblood Onyx who is roughly twenty years old. He has pitch-black eyes and hair, along with pale features typical of Imperial nobility,

When in the military uniform, Yatrai wears an armband with an image of a skeletal hand gripping a longsword burning with spectral flame, the symbol of the Crazy Bone Division.

Personality[]

Despite being an heir to the great warrior house of Nouzen, Yatrai has a somewhat laid-back personality. In his first meeting with Shin, he wasn't mindful of his manner and displayed a surprisingly carefree attitude, which one might not expect from a young man with an aristocratic background. Yatra is quite open about his dislike for having heavy responsibilities and wishes to live without worries.

When he becomes serious, however, Yatrai will assume a persona fitting the bloodline of conquerors. During the interrogation of Zelene Birkenbaum or the Merciless Queen, he carried himself in a dignified way, spoke in a sharp, intimidating tone, and wore an expression as cold and cruel as a spear. Yatrai's smile was the grin of a ruler who showed no mercy to those he trampled underfoot.

As typical of former imperial nobles, Yatrai sees himself above commoners. Although he does not mistreat them, Yatrai generally ignores anyone who is not a noble, deeming them unworthy of his attention.

Background[]

Due to Seiei having no living male heir, it was decided that the position of the Nouzen patriarch would be given to the elderly leader's nephew, this made Yatrai second in line but due to the first in line having only daughters, Yatrai was the most likely choice.

Chronology[]

The Nouzen Family’s Succession Situation[]

Yatrai visited his uncle's room and met his cousin Shin, making note of the young man's red eyes before introducing himself. After that, Yatrai asked Shin if he was going to become the new clan head. The pureblood Nouzen claimed he wasn't going to go easy on a fellow competitor before realizing Shin had declined. After Shin gave his reasons on why he couldn't participate in the succession, Yatrai talked about his dislike of becoming the new patriarch, citing all the work and responsibility that came with the position that he wasn't particularly fond of fulfilling. To Yatrai's dismay, Shin once again rejected the chance at becoming a possible successor.
