The Northern Front's First Ward's First Defensive Squadron "Sledgehammer" (北部戦線第一戦区第一防衛戦隊“スレッジハマー”, Hokubusensen Dai-ichi Senku Dai-ichi Bouensentai "Surejjihamā"?) is a Processor squadron credited as the most elite unit on the Republic's Northern Front. Much like the Spearhead Squadron, it was a suicide squadron designed to purge its members, who were approaching the end of their military service terms.
While none of its previous members survived, the spirit of the squadron was integrated into the Eighty-Sixth Strike Package as the 4th Armored Division's First Squadron "Sledgehammer" (第1戦隊“ノルトリヒト”, Dai-ichi Sentai "Sledgehammer"?).
Chronology
The Sledgehammer Squadron was led by a Name Bearer "Black Bird" during the time of the large-scale offensive. The entire squadron was annihilated by the northern invasion of the Legion.[1]
The current Sledgehammer Squadron is led by Suiu Toukanya, who was previously the leader of another northern squadron.[2]
