The Northern Front's First Ward's First Defensive Squadron "Sledgehammer" (北部戦線第一戦区第一防衛戦隊“スレッジハマー”, Hokubusensen Dai-ichi Senku Dai-ichi Bouensentai "Surejjihamā"?) is a Processor squadron credited as the most elite unit on the Republic's Northern Front. Much like the Spearhead Squadron, it was a suicide squadron designed to purge its members, who were approaching the end of their military service terms.
While none of its previous members survived, the spirit of the squadron was integrated into the Eighty-Sixth Strike Package as the 4th Armored Group's First Squadron "Sledgehammer" (第四機甲グループ第一戦隊“スレッジハマー”, Dai-yon Kikou Gurūpu Dai-ichi Sentai "Surejjihamā"?).
Chronology[]
The Sledgehammer Squadron was led by a Name Bearer "Black Bird" during the time of the large-scale offensive. The entire squadron was annihilated by the northern invasion of the Legion.[1]
The current Sledgehammer Squadron is led by Suiu Tohkanya, who was previously the leader of another northern squadron.[2]

Blackbird's Generation
- [Handler] - Just like all other squadrons, Slegdehammer Squadron was led by an unnamed handler
- [Leader] - Black Bird - The processor who went by the name of Black Bird was the captain of the squadron, therefore he was responsible for directing the whole squadron during the battles against the Legion. Black Bird was killed in action, along with his entire squadron during the First Great Offensive.
