Seiei Nouzen (セイエイ・ノウゼン, Seiei Nouzen?) is a minor character in the 86 -Eighty Six- series.

He is the current head of the Nouzen Clan and the paternal grandfather of Shinei Nouzen.

Appearance[]

Seiei Nouzen is a tall old man with pitch black, eagle-like eyes.[1] As a pure blooded Onyx, he originally had black hair which had mostly turned white. [2]

Personality[]

Background[]

Marquis Seiei Nouzen was a former noble who had once led half of the Giadian Empire's military.[1] He was also a leading figure in the old Imperial senate. [3]

Because his eldest son, Reisha, broke the taboo of imperial nobles by marrying a Pyrope woman of Maika clan, they were forced to immigrate to the Republic. Nonetheless, Marquis Nouzen still continued sending letters and gifts to his son's family on multiple occasion. After the war broke out, He lost all contact with his son's family and thus was unaware of their fates.

Chronology[]

After Shin and his friends were rescued by the Federacy, Marquis Nouzen had requested to meet his grandson multiple times, asking President Ernst Zimmerman, Major General Richard Altner and finally Colonel Vladilena Milizé herself when she took command of the Eighty-Sixth Strike Package. Shin, however, did not want to meet his grandfather as he subconsciously avoided anything that reminded his painful past.

After the Dragon Corpse Mountain Range mission, Shin finally agreed to meet his grandfather. Marquis Nouzen was overjoyed when he saw his grandson for the first time. Though Shin declined to stay at his grandfather's place for a night, he agreed to have a dinner with Marquis Nouzen, along with his maternal grandmother, Gelda Maika. [2]

Abilities[]

As a descendant of the Nouzen clan, Seiei would have had the typical martial powers of an Onyx, and the ability to walk without making any noise that is unique to his clan. Due his past as a military leader, he likely has great knowledge of combat and strategy, as well as great leadership skills that allowed him to lead half of Giad's vast military. He also likely had the management skills to deal with all of the private properties, former territories, businesses, research institutes, mines and schools owned by the Nouzen clan.

Relationships[]

Shinei Nouzen[]

Before the war, Seiei would send gifts to the Republic for Shin and Rei. After Shin was taken in by the Federacy, the Marquis would try his hardest to connect with the boy. Despite Shin's constant postponing, the two eventually met, bringing Seiei a sense of relief. While they haven't been seen interacting a lot, it's known that Seiei is happy to have a grandson that he can pamper without worrying about noble traditions. Seiei's regrets regarding Reisha have him reluctant to see Shin confined by the Nouzen's traditions. Thus, he hasn't introduced Shin to Nouzen politics, something that his fellow kinsman seemed too eager to do.

Shourei Nouzen[]

They never properly meet but Shourei still received gifts from his grandfather, like a children's book with a headless skeleton about his clan which Rei found a bit weird.

Reisha Nouzen[]

Seiei's eldest son. Even after the exile, they both still stayed in touch, though the old noble wouldn't answer his son's letters, something that he would later regret.

Stewart[]

Stewart is Seiei's attendant and childhood friend. They seem to have a good relationship, as Seiei asks Stewart for advice on what to get Shin for his birthday. In turn, Stewart enjoys taunting and teasing Seiei who is often annoyed by him, and has been doing this for at least 50 years, implying they have known each other for at least that long.[1]
