Strike Package Members[]
Shinei Nouzen[]
When Kurena was first assigned under Shin, she was honestly afraid. She'd always heard the rumors about the headless, red-eyed Reaper who dominated the eastern front lines. The story had it that any who fought in the same squadron would inevitably die. Perhaps he summoned death, just like his name implied. Or maybe he used his comrades as shields.
After witnessing Shin euthanize one of their mortally wounded squadron mates after a battle, Kurena was captivated by his twisted yet merciful action, which was the single most beautiful sight Kurena had ever seen. Kurena came to admire Shin for carrying the names and memories of his dead comrades with him. She resolved to help him shoulder the burden. To do so, she sharpens her shooting skills to perform the same duties as Shin. However, she eventually realizes that she cannot be the same as him.
Kurena's admiration for Shin has developed into affection, a topic her squadron often uses to tease her. The feelings are not mutual since Shin has grown to view her as a little sister. Despite this, she was persistent in trying to help him and gain his attention.
All her admiration would develop a toxic mentality in Kurena, after leaving the Eighty-Six sector she would wish for him to remain the same person out of fear of losing him, even if that could affect Shin's mental health in a negative way.
Eventually she decided to stop chasing after Shin's love, Kurena would confess her feelings knowing she would be rejected, after doing she told Shin she wished him and Lena to be happy together.
Vladilena Milizé[]
At first Kurena hated the handler, believing the kindness to be just a lie so Lena could make herself feel good, to the point of wanting Shin to "break" her as previous handlers.
After Kaie's death and Lena trying to do things right Kurena's opinion changed a bit, while still hating the Alba girl at least Kurena thought it would be better to tell Lena about how the squad would never receive reinforcements to spare her of the pain.
After leaving her feeling behind Kurena finally became more supportive of Shin and Lena's relationship, even telling the latter to invite the boy on a date.
Anju Emma[]
Anju has probably the closest bond with Kurena in the squad.
Shana Aya[]
While not particularly close they seemed to be on good terms. After Shana death's Kurena falls in depression due her guilty because she recognizes her inaction as the cause of Melusine and other processors' deaths.
Mika[]
A squadmate of Shana. Kurena expected to receive Mika's hate due causing the death of various members of the Brísingamen Squadron, instead Mika tried to snap Kurena out of her depression in a particularly rough way.
Henrietta von Penrose[]
They haven't seen interacting a lot but Kurena at least considers her enough of a friend to call Annette one of the good Alba that doesn't deserve her hate.
Dustin Jaeger[]
Similarly to Annette, Kurena sees Dustin as a good person that she doesn't hate for being an Alba.
Republic of San Magnolia[]
The unnamed soldier[]
The soldier that saved Kurena and her sisters from being tortured like their parents. While Kurena can't remember his appearance aside from his long hair, she still feels grateful for what he did and considers him an example that not all Albas are evil.
Family members[]
Kurena's deceased father, mother and older sister. Her parents' being tortured in front of her and her sister is one of the main reasons of Kurena's hatred against Albas, which only grew bigger after her sister died in battle.
Holy Theocracy of Noiryanaruse[]
Himmelnåde Réze[]
They shared a brief but positive interaction before the operation to destroy the Halcyon. After Hilna betrays the squad Kurena falls in a depression again, lamenting on how the world is a cruel place where you can't trust anyone because they will backstab you. After hearing Hilna's past and how it shaped the Holy General's current wish to see all humanity destroyed Kurena gets scared because she realizes how similar their worldviews are, except that the young processor doesn't want to see humanity destroyed if it means her friends suffering. All this caused Kurena to rethink things and managed to make her a more positive person about the future.
