Gilwiese Günter (ギルヴィース・ギュンター Giruvīsu Gyuntā?) is a secondary supporting character in the 86 -Eighty Six- series introduced in Valkyrie Has Landed.
His Personal Name is Mock Turtle (モックタートル Mokkutātoru?)
Gilwiese is the commander of the Myrmecoleo Free Regiment, a unit of mixed Pyrope soldiers belonging to the Brantolote Archduchy.
Appearance[]
Gilwiese is a young man in his twenties with crimson eyes of a Pyrope. His hair, however, was dyed scarlet instead of natural color. He has the slender physique and refined features characteristic of the Empire’s old nobility.
His armored flight suit was identical in design to the Federacy military standard, but it had cinnabar colors applied to it.
Personality[]
Gilwiese presents himself as a courteous young man. He is polite and considerate to people including those who are not nobles. In truth, however, Gilwiese suffers from a inferiority complex due to his mixed-blood and constant abuse since birth by other Pyrope nobles. Like his comrades, he strongly believes the only way he can prove his worth as a Pyrope noble is to distinguish himself on the battlefield. He does understand that his mindset was forced onto him like a slave brand, nevertheless acknowledging that he simply did not have the strength to oppose it.[3]
According to Shin, Gilwiese is very obsessive in achieving his goals and wouldn’t mind dying in the process. In other words, he is similar to how Shin used to be in the Eighty-Sixth Sector. To that same end, Gilwiese is an extremely pragmatic leader, able to turn a blind eye to the slaughter of Teshat children committed by his subordinates.[3]
Possibly due to his upbringing, Gilwiese always held suspicions toward anyone outside his group and ready for betrayal at any moment.[4]
Background[]
Gilwiese was born as a result of Pyrope nobles' practice called "Selective Breeding". Like almost all of his comrades in the Myrmecoleo Free Regiment, he was deemed a worthless failure. He had neither dignity, affection, nor future ahead of him. As a child of mixed blood, his family would never acknowledge him, and no one would offer him any help or protection. In fact, he were forbidden from leaving the households for a long time, so as to never be exposed to the world.
At one point, Gilwiese joined the Brantolote Archduchy's private army which eventually became the Myrmecoleo Free Regiment.
