If you are in search for its Generator Extension Type counterpart, see Edelfalter.
The Eintagsfliege (阻電攪乱型, Aintākusufurīge?) is the Electronic Disruption Type Legion unit, and also the smallest one, alongside the Edelfalter, which it should not be confused with.
With the shape and size of a butterfly, its small enough to fit in an adult human hand palm. Its name derives from the German word that stands for Mayfly.
It is a unit specialized in radio jamming. Its wings emit powerful electromagnetic waves capaple of jamming and confusing enemy communications by deflecting and disrupting other electromagnetic waves of all kinds, light included.[1]
Description[]
They are the cornerstone of the Legion offensive, spreading out before an attack to jam radar and communications, masking the size and location of the Legion force. They are deployed above the battlefield in huge "clouds" that blot out the sun, casting a long shadow.[2] The multilayered deployment of these metal clouds allows the Legion to rapidly cooling the atmosphere, oppressing a certain area of enemy territory by preventing sunlight from reaching the surface.[3]
They are an extremely important contingent to the ground Legion, that are the main offensive forces. At least one Eintagsfliege is always associated with at least one parent Legion unit in order to ensure connection to the Wide Area Network. They shower the ground with silver scale-like particles, resembling powdered snow, which regenerates the micromachines that served as both the Legion's lifeblood and their nervous system.[1][4]
They are also capable of taking offensive action against enemy aircrafts, swarming directly into their engine intakes, and destroying them from the inside.[5] Therefore, along with the Stachelschwein with its antiair cannons, they made infiltrating the Legion’s airspace incredibly difficult and obsolete.[6]
The exposition of a living body to its electromagnetic waves at close range could likely lead to fatal injury.[7] When it overloads itself, its wings emit even stronger waves, radiant heat, a strong white light, an electrical discharge, and a shrilling noise.[7][8]
As its name suggests, a notable drawback of the Eintagsfliege is its extremely short battery life, to the point that it is common for them to fall down from the sky after running out of energy during an off-schedule military operation.[4] However, due to the Eintagsfliege's small size and ease of production, they are often quickly replenished en masse by the Legion's automated production sites (see Weisel).[3]
Schematics[]
The Eintagsfliege consists of four distinct functional parts:[9]
- A front part: includes a battery and an electric motor powered by it.
- A rear part: includes a flight control chip equipped with a stabilizer.
- Heat-emitting fin: arched intermediate component that joins the front and rear parts. Like in other Legion units, in both shape and function, it dissipates heat.
- Wings: they are connected to the front part's motor and, in addition to providing lift, also act as antennas. They are made of aluminum alloy and therefore rips easily.
Although it does not have significantly powerful sensors, it does have a built-in IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) system. It also appears to be equipped with rudimentary optical sensors of an unspecified type: it is able to orient itself "by sight".[7]
Trivia[]
- There is an Eintagsfliege production site in the depths of the Dragon Fang Mountain,[3] the largest peak in the Dragon Corpse mountain range, located on the border with the United Kingdom of Roa Gracia.

- In two separate instances, the Eintagsfliege almost caused the death of both Lena (directly)[7] and Shin (indirectly)[8]; this by overloading themselves (see Description).
