The Eighty-Sixth Strike Package (第86独立機動打撃群ストライク・パッケージ, Dai-Hachijūroku Sutoraiku Pakkēji?, lit. 86th Independent Mobile Strike Group) is an independent mobile strike force created by the Federal Republic of Giad.

As a foreign unit, it is primarily comprised of Eighty-Six Processors from the Republic of San Magnolia. The Strike Package is made up of two thousand Processors divided into four divisions. Each division is cycled in and out of operational activity, rest, and training. Two divisions are active at any given moment.[2]

Background

Following the elimination of the Morpho by the Nordlicht Squadron and the relief of San Magnolia, the Federacy received a large influx of new Eighty-Six joining the Federacy's war effort. However, the Federacy Armed Forces had experienced the difficulty of integrating the Eighty-Six to regular units due to their conflicting doctrines and cultures. For instance,

Although their choice is a pragmatic one, it horrifies many Federacy soldiers and reinforces their believe that the Eighty-Six are battle-crazed people.
  • The Federacy's use of Feldreß is in line with the traditional armored warfare which emphasize on an direct engagement. The Eighty-Six, however, have developed their own doctrine which discourages a direct confrontation. Instead, they emphasize on using speed and agility to avoid being hit and outmaneuver the Legion units. This stark contrast cause difficulties to the cooperation between two groups.

Due to these issues, the Strike Package thus was established as a independent unit of foreign soldiers, separated from Federacy's regular units. Equipped with the highly successful XM2 Reginleif, it was designed to be the rapid deployment forces as well as a collaborative project between the continent's four powers: the Federal Republic of Giad, the Republic of San Magnolia, the United Kingdom of Roa Gracia, and the Alliance of Wald.[3]

Chronology

Volume 4

The Strike Package was initially composed of a single division comprised of 168 Processors from both the Republic's Eighty-Sixth Sector and the Federacy's Vargus Nordlicht Squadron. Their number would decrease to approximately 100 Processors following the Charité Operation. In order to bolster their forces, three additional armored divisions were recruited from Eighty-Six veteran volunteers. Another boost in manpower would come from the aid of the United Kingdom and the Alliance.

Role

The Strike Package is often sent to foreign battlefields and have accrued great achievements. Their role is to not only fight crucial battles, but also to increase public morale in the process. Despite the reluctance of its members, the Strike Package is seen as a company of tragic heroes by the Federacy, their stories of triumph lift the spirits of the populace.[4]

Operations Commanders' Chain of Command
