The Armored Type 5 Fah-Maras (機甲五式 ファ＝マラス, Kikou Go Shiki Fa-Marasu?) is the main armored Feldreẞ deployed by the Holy Theocracy of Noiryanaruse.
Nomenclature[]
There is no definitive inspiration or meaning behind the name Fah-Maras. Armored Type 5 indicates it is the fifth Feldreß designed and deployed by the Theocracy.
Description[]
The Fah-Maras was built with the ashen battlefield of the volcanic Blank Sector in mind. It uses a quadrupedal walking system like the Reginleif, Juggernaut, and Stollenwurm. Its form resembles a frog or a toad, giving it the appearance of an infant crawling when moving. Its leg design sacrifices mobility in favor of wide surface area contact to keep them above the ash terrain and sinkholes, having 8 toe-like appendages on each leg that are spread out in a wing-like manner. The Fah-Maras is equipped with dust shields and it's armor is pearl gray, along with it's flat appearance, allows it to blend among the ash in the barren wasteland.
Due to the Theocracy's inferior technology, the Federacy's Vanagandr still outperforms the Fah-Maras overall. Since ash disrupts the range-finder laser Feldreß typically use, the Fah-Maras uses a 120 mm Rifle Cannon instead of the usual smoothbore gun as it boasts higher accuracy at the cost of muzzle velocity, though it is still powerful enough to penetrate a Vanagandr's flank. However, due to the accuracy of fin-stabilized ammunition, the smoothbore gun can still fire with similar accuracy when using APFSDS rounds. This only gives the Fah-Maras the advantage when firing HEAT rounds or in environments that disrupts laser targeting systems. The rifled barrel limits the type of ammunition the Fah-Maras can use however. The Fah-Maras' main armament is also accompanied by a coaxial 12.7 mm machine gun that can provide additional suppressive fire as well as spotting. It also sports an additional revolving 12.7 mm machine gun for covering fire.
The Fah-Maras has thick frontal armor and it's engine and rifle cannon cartridge place in front of the cockpit to prioritize pilot safety. However, it could still be destroyed with a Vanagandr's 120 mm smoothbore cannon.
