Spearhead Members[]

Kaie Taniya[]

A friend of Anju's and one of the six girls originally in Spearhead Squadron. The two often teased Kurena. When Kaie was killed by the Legion, Anju tried to recover her body but was stopped by Shin, who warned that the Legion were using Kaie as a trap. Left with no choice, Anju fired at the wreckage of Kaie's Juggernaut to prevent her body from being taken by the Legion, not knowing that Kaie's corpse had been flung from the Juggernaut and would later be recovered by the Legion.

Daiya Irma[]

Anju and Daiya were assigned to the same squadron on their first deployment and remained together all the way to their assignment to Spearhead Squadron. When they first met, he knew she was growing her hair out to hide something but still complimented her and told her to keep letting it grow out. The two became close friends over their years of fighting together. When he died on one of the sorties, Anju gave up hiding her scars. She tries to keep her composure but finally breaks down and grieves for him during the fireworks show. It is implied that she loved him and had wanted to confess to him, but he died before she could do so.

Strike Package Members[]

Dustin Jaeger[]

Anju and Dustin share an awkward relationship. Dustin is open about his attraction and feelings towards Anju, yet Anju has not gotten over her love for Daiya. Anju cannot see Dustin as a love interest, but still enjoys his company. During the formal event in the Alliance of Wald where they danced together, Anju confessed that while she could never see him in the way she saw Daiya, she did not want to lose Dustin either. She made him promise to never die and leave her behind.[1]

Anju now considers her previous statement to him—that she cannot see him as a love interest—to be a lie. She feels that she wouldn't have taken his hand at the ball or proposed various other activities with him if she didn't feel romantically attracted. It was just that Anju was still torn over Daiya, feeling that being with Dustin would be betraying him. After seeing Shin and the others make peace with their pasts, Anju decides that letting Daiya's memory hold her from moving forward was cowardly. Before Anju advanced with the rest of the Airborne Battalion, she asks Dustin to reaffirm his promise of not leaving her behind, to which he readily gave affirmation.[2]
